The 2023 BBH 500 Bike Ride was honored to meet the Yang family and contribute to their "Bike.Build" Home!
Seng and Ge Yang applied to Habitat because they want a place to call home. They are living in a rental unit that is too expensive and unsafe for their family of six.
The Yangs and their four children – Annabella, Kaden, Sabrina, and Kenya – are ready to settle down and stop moving from place to place. They are eager to help build their future Habitat home.
Their future home is on Onalaska Avenue in La Crosse. The lot, which was donated by the City of La Crosse, is in the flood plain. It will be redeveloped and regraded to ensure it is safe for long-term living.
Just like all Habitat families, the Yangs will contribute 350 sweat equity hours to their future home’s construction, working alongside Habitat staff and volunteers.
Seng says, “I think it is a great idea and a great thing for a family to learn about what goes into building a home. By doing this, it’ll give the family a true sense of pride and attachment to the home that we help build together.”
