Some scholarship help is available for those who cannot well-afford the standard registration fees.
We expect riders to raise a minimum of $500, or part-time riders to raise a minimum of $100 a day that they ride. It is wonderful to note that some of our riders (who have ridden for MANY YEARS in the BBH 500 and its predecessor ride, the Habitat 500, raise $5,000 plus annually). You direct what affordable housing non-profit your money goes to...although most of it goes to Habitat affiliates, and much goes to the local hosting affiliate.
To those riders and volunteers who made our 2023 ride in LaCrosse, our 2024 ride in Winona, and our 2025 ride in St. Cloud so successful! In that 3-year history, the BBH5 500 ride has raised over half a million dollars for Habitat for Humanity affiliates and other affordable housing organizations.
The ride needs volunteers to help with rest stops, driving a sag vehicle, route marking work, bicycle mechanics, food preparation, etc. You can register as a local volunteer by contacting Habitat for Humanity, South Central MN at (507) 388-6682. You can click the Registration Link to volunteer as a 5-Day volunteer who needs housing, just like the riders do.
"As the Executive Director of the host affiliate of the 2025 Bike.Build.Home500, it is wonderful to say that the event was an inspiring reminder of what teamwork and community can achieve. Volunteers, sponsors, and riders came together to build hope, one bike and one home at a time. the energy, smiles, and shared purpose made it an unforgettable event that continues to inspire us all."
